I Brought a recon 1600 engine off ebay because mine was due for a rebuild although she was running. My friend and i spent the whole day taking the engine out and converting all the ancilliaries over until we got to the last piece, The cylider head inlet manifold which did not fit? Some bast__ed had converted it to a 1200. It had 1200 cyliders, Pistons etc etc.
I   am supposed to be going to vanfest for the first time ever in my recently purchased 1970 westie. Im now going in a swb Ford Transit camper, How will i hold my head up in that??
So if you see a man in a small crappy transit camper trying to hang out with the early bays, Dont shoot him he`s an early bay owner too!!

sorry for laughing but you did make me

thats a new one! so was it really a 1600 or the seller didnt realise it was a 1200?

Well you never get the proper truth with people selling duff things on ebay. The engine codes was AS which is a 1600 engine but it had 1200 cylinder heads. If it had 1300 cylinder heads i would of been none the wiser until i put my foot down on the pedal because so im told 13s,15s and 1600 blocks and heads are the same. I would of been even more pissed off if that had happened. I did get my money back and he told me to keep the lump. God knows what im going to do with it. Sell it as spares on ebay i suppose.

You never know!!
The engine looks nice enough, All painted red and everything in it is new. Just dont know why anyone would want to do that. Dont even know if it would run. So im told 1200 engines components just dont fit into 1300 and 1600 engines.
Maybe ill find some poor sod.

He did!!

by the sounds of it you got a decent lump for free, for the cost of the top end you got an emergency motor, keep hold of it....
