Hi
Im interested to see pics and vids on how the bunks / beds work in an Early Bay Westy pop roof.
Is it only pull out bunks in an Early Westy or was there ever a fixed flat bed on the roof or is like what happened later on Late Bays?

Thanks for any help

I had a hunt around the other month for vids
I would have thought there were more vids around
There is a thread on here , I think faux makes the flat roof beds

Are the continental bunks quite rare? What was the standard style bunk for a California Westy EB?

Hi - yes - quite rare to find the continental beds - the standard bunk was a fold out single person hammock type job - I've removed mine and will fit one of Faux's double beds when ready, they are exact copy of the OG item, the fact that they have been reproduced just points to the scarcity of finding an OG one!

Thank you Lard. I have learnt some stuff today. I'm interested in buying myself a Westfalia pop or Westy Weekender or Deluxe with Westy interior and trying to see all the differences.

Does the Westy pop ever come with double bunks or was it always single?

I would only get a Westy pop if it had the Continental bed I think or its a lot of extra roof for 1 bunk.

I've just finished putting together one of Faux's beds ready for fitting next year and they're top quality :D

Originally did the EB Westy only ever come with one pull out bunk or was there ever two? One either side that both folded into the middle or was there ever an extra big bunk that folded across the size of the roof?

The standard set up in a Westy Campmobile interior in an early bay was a 3/4 bed made up from the rear seat, a single fold out bunk that always goes by the sliding door as you use the buddy seat to get up onto it and then a cab bunk that goes across the cab seats.

The fold down bed that goes into the roof was fitted to later buses with the continental interior but can be fitted to an early bus using one of Jon's (Faux on here) kits.

One of the best things I bought is one of the beds from faux, easily sleep one adult or 2 smaller children. Ours are now 12 and 10 and only just annoying each other at night, if they're really tired they'll sleep OK.

Great info. If I decide on a pop westy will defiantly budget for Faux kit. I'm very much half and half between pop and weekender whatever one comes along at right price I guess.

Hi,

Or there is this bed:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=354101" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, I always wondered if another fold out hammock could be remade/welded to fit the oposite side? Possible if you are good with welding, they do come up cheap from time to time, might be worth a laugh remaking one?

Cheers,

Alistair
