My daughter is after a new Beetle - the modern one, not the original one built until recently in Mexico.

Does anyone know of one being sold by a reputable person?

Cheers!

My next door neighbour has just bought one - hang around for a couple of months and he's bound to sell it on, he can't hang on to a vehicle for long it seems...

;)

not got one ,but if i can give a little advise make sure you get the 1.8t or one of the tdis the otheres are rubish

depends how old your daughter is too? i'm sure a 1.8t would cost a few quid to insure.

friend of mine just insured her 17yr old son on a mk2 golf.... 3grand

I nearly passed out.

well i had a 2.0 petrol and it was underpowerd slow ,fuel econamy was awfull and i had nothing but probs with it.im asuming if the 2.0 is underpowerd and costly the 1.6 and especialy the 1.4 will be the same.since owning mine ive heard a few people say the same and they all rate the 1.8t and the tdi.price does reflect in there prices tho.they also do a 2.5 petrol never heard of any one having one tho.

hope you find the one your looking for

chris

the wife has a 1.6, slow and thirsty!! is not the word! i would go tdi!

go on http://www.evvo.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for buying advice

Do you mean one like this

;) this is my daily. 1.6 is a bit thirsty get on av. 25ish mpg around town and 38ish on a good run. New beetles are known to be not very good on fuel.

Try http://www.newbeetle.org.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; sometimes some come up for sale on here or they know of a good bargin.

My wife has a 1.6, weve had it about 6 years now, and have been really pleased with it. Its now on 110k and apart from one fuel flow sensor its been no trouble at all.
Its not the most economical car around, but youd have a diesel Micra or something if that was your bag? Ditto its not the fastest, but perfectly adequate, I reckon.

If 'I' were getting one it would be a 1.8T or TDi, I guess? But for your daughter, her position may differ.

:)

:msn4:

this is the only new beetle i would consider belongs to a mate in our local dub club 150 horses :D . or this... the RSI version.... powered by the 225hp 3.2 VR6 engine

I totally agree with Strongy. I've driven the 1.6 and it couldn't pull the skin off your porridge, what i mean is i wouldnt chance an overtaking manouvre and its fairly thirsty.

Hi Mike

Have you thought about any other cars, the Audi A2 TDI is a good motor an still has quirky look, Ive had two and liked both of them, the TDI gets about 60mpg on average, avoid the 1.6 FSI the engine is a real pig.

Thanks for the replies - as always on here honest and sensible!

My daughter is 25 and has hankered after a new beetle since we first saw them as left hand drive imports at some of the first shows we went to. I tried tempting her with my old 1303 but she hated it! She's had sensible cars so far and wants something which can reflect her personality a bit more than the skoda she has at present.

I'll be checking up the 1.8 and tdi - cheers!

A big thankyou to strongy for suggesting the 1.8t as something to look for. I found one for sale through the new Beetle group and everything fell into place. My daughter collected it last week and is 100% happy. Again the sound advice from trusted members on here has paid dividends. Cheers!
