Back bumper problems

Do back bumpers change over the years? Just tried fitting my bumper on my 69 bay and the holes don't line up with the bumper brackets. ( they are bolted to the bus) I have been up and looked at a friends and it measures the same as the bumper I have, his is a 72. It is 119cm between the two outer holes. If anyone knows or has a 69 and could take a measurement for me I would be most great full. Thanks

Yes. '72 has a wider engine bay and the chassis rails at the back spaced further apart.

Sounds like your bumper is a '72 one.

Oh ok that confirms it then, need to sell my newly painted 72 bumper and find a earlier one. Thanks
