Yep thats the one thats on here too.... very informative.... just make sure your confident with your welding.... this is one area you dont want to cut corners on.... and get the pics up fella

Your mig welder will be fine, there isn't much load on the welds themselves. In theory you could drive it unwelded, obviously you wouldn't. The beams go through the end plates, they only have to be held in place.

It is a ball ache to get the old pressing off the original beam. You need to cut it off with a grinder.

You can buy beams for £350, when you weigh up a pair of adjusters at £100 it's not such a bad deal.

How do you shorten the torsion leaves n make dimples for arm screws?

Hacksaw & a drill ;) although I gather it may be hard work due to the type of metal used.

You will be there for ever with a hacksaw & drill. That is completely the wrong tools to use.

A grinder with a 1mm cutting disc will go through no problem. To redrill the dimple, use a die grinder tungsten bit with a 10mm radius end. A pillar drill is the easiest way to do it.

I was talking to a lad from Portsmouth at Big Bang the other week. He is just starting up on his own under the name "The Beam Shop" what he lacks in an imaginative name he more than made up with what he has done. He really seems to know his stuff. I wouldn't mind betting I could wangle a trade price (He already has agreed that for me) but I might be able to get a deal on a group buy or something.

I will put the wheels in motion to get his contact details...

Whare do you get the end plates from? Just looked on Creative and T2D and cant find em :!: :?:
Also it would apear there are early and late chassis beam mounting patterns.
Dont realy want to just buy a set at a show off some unknown trader just for them to be crap quality and a poor fit.

Rich.

p.s Anyone got any pix of a narrowed beam fitted to a van from under the arch and underneath please.
Quite excited now  my beams comming off soon anyway for adjusters so what the hell.....

Cool thread by the way.
