Bench testing a generator

Hi all
Im replacing the engine in my 69 Westy from a std singleport to a second hand twin port,
The tp comes with the 38 amp generator and my old engine was a 30 A,
Is there any way of testing the 38 A generator as i dont know if its any good ?

Connect up to your battery charger. If it slowly spins it's good. (Don't do it for long or it may overload the charger).
