Bought a piece of glass (passenger non-opening quarterlight) for the camper from VW Heritage last week to replace the scratched one that had been supplied with our camper. Came to fitting it on Saturday (had help doing it from a window guy!) and it is half the thickness of the offical VW one.

So, I contacted them today to return it but I have to pay the return postage apparently?

It's not fit for purpose (half the thickness = flaps around in the frame & seal = water pissing in) - do I have ground to claim the postage back?

Ive never quite figured out having to pay return postage for incorrect items (especially on ebay) as you pay postage here and back.

Basically meaning it has cost you postage two ways to view an item not fit for purpose.

My two cents..... :D

all items purchased on line that are not fit for use, u should not be paying for postage when returned

My understanding is that they have to refund the delivery costs but you are responsible for the return costs if the items are not faulty and as long as they state that in their T&C's. If they are faulty they should refund the postage costs both ways. I may be wrong but that is how the DSR's read to me.

i think they should def pay the postage - thats the least they should do if theyve sent something not fit for purpose, given the time youve wasted.
I had to call them to complete an online order cos the website wasnt behaving - I spent more than £50 quid and fair play it was out to me the next day but I got charged postage.
the quality of parts in general that ive bought new over the last couple of years seem to get worse as well.

Hi,

Distance Selling Regulations protect you if you wish to cancel but this is for 7 working days and believe you'd pay postage to send them back? more on DSR here:

http://www.out-law.com/page-430

Under sales of goods act however, you also have protection - in as much as if the goods are of unsatisfactory quality you can reject them and advise them to collect them, if you paid by card then you have the same recourse through the credit card company, ring them and officially reject them as unfit for pupose, and ask them to collect within 7 days .... depends on what grounds you return them, under distance selling regs and cancel, or being they are not fit for purpose/unsatisfactory quality - if you don't want to pay postage to return then the latter is best,

of course, better would be if they accepted that the goods are faulty/incorrect and arranged replacement/refund as should be the case under your statutory rights - did you make it clear they are not fit for purpose rather than you cancelling the order?

I sold this item and also took the call and passed it on to my colleague who does returns (which i dont get involved in by the way)

I am always more than happy to help resolve any issues you may have but would prefer to talk direct rather than via a forum as it gets things resolved much more effeciently,

My email address is [email protected]

or you can give me a call tomorrow (have a day off today)

Or come see me at Busfest this weekend and we can have a chat over a coffee.

Another 'moan about a VW supplier' thread? Let's have it that these are OK only if the supplier has been contacted and all eventualities tried and not resolved. Like the Coolair one a while back good suppliers are being dragged through the mud. Luckily Alex got his reply in and was able to make his point. In the end let's hope this shows Heritage to be the good guys not dodgy sellers.

good call mike, its unfair on the supplier and its not how we do things here.

Heritage are very supportive of the site and offer generous discounts to EB members. Its obvious this (the gripe with extra postage) wasnt raised with them before this was posted.

in future i will be locking/deleting threads of this nature unless its of last resort and someone has been out right scammed, even then they must message a mod first before posting. Its very hard to build a reputation up but it only takes a few minutes to type something to discredit it.

If anyone has an issue wit VW Heritage they should PM Alex if they cant get any satisfaction directly (if thats ok with Alex)

Fair play. I shouldn't have jumped on the band wagon - just venting really - had a bad day with similar circumstances :(

there is no critism directed at anyone by me, its just time to knock it on the head.

Excellent. I'm not one to slag or big-up suppliers, but VWH are without doubt one of the ones who try the hardest to supply high quality parts for your bus - and the right ones down to the chassis number. If I have any doubt I always call and order from them with confidence. Having a member of staff on here only adds to that. I keep my eye on Alex's advice and responses over the years and he seems like a top geezer. :)

I've posted it off now - Alex - this isn't a personal attack at you... just a vent of a little bit of anger! I also had an awful day when I rung you, I had a undertray of a pov spec A4 fly off the car infront of me and do £450's worth of damage to my daily driver Alfa Mito!

About time, don't want this place turning into every other moaning forum out there1 :msn4: :D

agreed! FIRST person you call is the person you bought it from.we should only hear of poor service way down the line if they won't play ball !! "its not cricket"

Excellent!

Earlybay is back operating as it has done very successfully for so long. Let's keep it that way.

Having been on here since the very early days the absence of griping and general nonsense is what made this group so special. Other forums seem to do gripes and knocks quite a lot more thoroughly! Not that I know for a fact as I never go on them...
