Has anyone fitted a seat belt to the buddy seat behind the driver seat ?.

I have read the very useful thread on rear belts and fitted rear 'Securon' belts sourced from Just Kampers.

I have fitted one inertia reel and one lap belt.

Before I refitted the interior I wondered if anyone had found a way of mounting a seat belt to the rear facing buddy seat bhind the driver (RHD).

My camper regularly carries my two children (or will) hence the fitting of belts.

Could you fit a belt straight to the seat if it was reinforced with steel on the inside ?.

I could take the seat out for MOT purposes as I doubt this would comply.

Just interested to see if anyone has done this or found a way to fit a belt here.

Thanks

My buddy seat is fitted with a lap belt using original fixings. I assume on a Westy (Microbus base) there should be the og fixings, one in the corner near the floor and one next to the drivers mount. If I get chance I will try to take a photo.

In the past I have fitted seat belts using the front seat belt mounting points for the buddy seat and it went through the mot ok and had planned to do the same again.

Faux.. I dont have a mounting point on the floor near the buddy seat though I do have a spare on the side of the seat for the stalk.

NickJ..Do yo have floor mount in your van ?.

Perhaps the floor mount is missing from my van. It would be difficult to fit too as it has side belly pans.

I was thinking of a three point belt but a lap belt would be easier to fit.

If either of you have photographs of your instal I would be grateful.

I can't remember if it is on the floor or about an inch off the floor, it is tucked well behind my westy buddy seat.

As you have belly pans it would make me think that there should be something there. Have you got any pics?

I don't know if your buddy seat moves or of the static variety, but here's a pick of my buddy belt. I used a JK seat belt, and original mounts to fit. Only minimal mods needed! Hope it helps.

Leon..Thanks for the pictures. My Devon has the fixed buddy seat immediatly behind the drivers seat.

I have not seen a version (though I am new at this) with the buddy seat where yours is.

I was thinking of doubling up on the top mount ie fitting the driver and buddy seat belt to the same hole high up on the B post.

There is a spare bolt hole beside the drivers seat for the stalk.(female part...ooooh err)

That only leaves two problems :-

1. Finding an inertia reel belt long enough (perhaps one meant for the bench seat)
2. Where to bolt it down to satisfy an MoT tester.
