Bumper Bracket Factory Colour?

Wondering if anybody can shed light on whether the brackets were painted white, like the bumper, or black from the factory? Having taken mine off to be readied for powder coating they appear to be painted white with underseal then painted on top. I have been told they were painted black though. Does anyone know the correct colour as want to do it right the first time

68-70 bumper colour was L581 Cloud White so maybe brackets the same (maybe 68-70 owners will confirm)

71 bumper colour was Pastel White L90D (my unrestored 71 has white bumper brackets matching bumpers (looks to be pastel white under the protective wax)

I have seen / had some nos front bumper brakets which were painted black rather than "NOS grey" but these had the later VW Audi stickers (no reference to NSU) so maybe later (post 73/74 ish NOS ones were painted black at the factory?)

I just took my lead from other restos on here etc. I don't know the definitive answer.

I think the bumper irons in the same colour white works well.

I can see another can of worms in the colour of the splash pan though! Now those definitely were black!! :msn4:

Probably, but it looks great in white though :lol:

That's what I want mine to look like.

I did think they were black but when I checked mine, which are original under the Zeibart, they are white.

It's the splash pans on the rear bumper that are originally black - which is what made me think the brackets were as well.

Mine were grey and original, same colour as the pedal pan and fuel tank cover, splash pans were black, as far as I could tell were all og

Looking a bit longer at the pic of the blue single cab's pedal pan, I think it is a light grey -not white.
