Bumper Irons 1968

Will 1972 crossover irons fit on a 1968 bus ???
Just bought a resto 1968 which need irons , and a mate got some 1972 ones , will they fit ?

I always thought '72 irons were a crossover part - not sure if they'll fit but often much in demand...

I thought the same to be honest but thought I would post anyways , I need to get familiar with the 68 .......... I know splits pretty well . Would split ones fit then ??

I think it all depends whether you have an early or a late rear end??
I`m sure later irons dont fit early bays??? I may be totally wrong? :wink:

When I popped my head under last night the chassis rail looks a bit like a split rear end , but a narrower channel , not like a crossover ,as I remember working on one of them in the summer .
maybe a split type can be modified ,??
anyways I need to buy a pair rear 68 iron and a bumper .........
Anyone know where best place ?
Maybe Volksheaven , or classycampers maybe ?

Not sure if splitty bumper irons will fit the eb chassis rails but I think split rear bumpers fit, although the profile at the bumper ends is different.

I've always used FBI for good 2nd hand stuff.

Don't forget if the bus is '68 and it needs a lot of chassis work particularly at the front end that most stuff is '68 only.
ie, the chassis rails at the front are narrower in profile.
