Ive got a 1641cc with a Brazil 34 PSIT ( or something like that,). What options would I have for twin carbs on a fairly stock engine for better fuel and power?

Riechert 34pci http://www.riechertmotorentechnik.de/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Proven quality for over 45 years, and the oldshool look is garanteed 8)

I have rebuild about 20 of these carb sets and drive them for 10 years now and they give real good power (torque) with a good fuel economy and German quality :!:
This is my set on a new engine (not ready yet)

Sexy, me likes  any idea on cost etc

Just done a quick google search and it appears that these carbs where used on the 36-40HP engines but im sure if jetted correctly they should be ok on a standard motor, cant find a price anywhere though or anyone other than the link above that sells them although the link requires you to reigister an interest then they will contact you :?

Guys, Riechert is a German tuner that started in the mid sixties with aircooled tunning, together with Theo Decker (TDE) and the most famous Oettinger (Okrasa) he is a pioneer in aircooled VW tuning.
Unlike Theo Decker and Oettinger Riechert is still active in the aircooled tuning scene 8) .
The Riechert carb sets are only available at Riechert, in the old days you could buy them all over Europe.
Even VW tested these carb sets in the early seventies due to the oil crisis, because when driving normally they give a good gas/mileage
Best way is to score a set on the German e-bay (like i did) and rebuild it, they always need new axle bushes, and every single part can be obtained from these sets.
You also can find yourself a set of NSU TT1200 carbs (they come from this car) and buy the rest at Riechert because the carbs are the most expensive parts.
But the sets are also new to get from Riechert and i think the do €711,- euro complete (but i have a nice discount from him ;))
The carbs are the same for all the engines 1200,1300,1500 and 1600cc only the maifolds, jets and venturi differ.
In Germany these sets are very popular because they are historic correct to get historic lisence plates (less tax paying)

Harry, forgot to ask at VCT2... do you have a choke on those carbs??

Hi Died, they don't have chokes but believe me you don't need them.
Even in the coldest wheater it starts right away, just a few pumps on the gas then start and hold it for 20 seconds at 2000rpm, thats it.
The manifolds heat up very quickly.

Love those carbs. for a slightly cheaper option you could pick up a good second hand pair of weber ICTs with linkage etc for less than £200, i have them on a standard 1600 and give 37mpg on a run, you can get period looking air filters for them too now. love those carbs.

I run a pair of dellorto 36's on my 1641,had no probs and it pulls nicely. would get it rolling roaded to sort the jetting out though,so you get power and decent mpg.

Yep, that's my plan for the wintertime!
What kind of exhaust is everybody running??? Do i get a better pulling engine (also 1641 cc) with a sporty exhaust?

I have a 1641 witha weber 32/36 twin choke and get 28mpg on a journey which most people seem impressed with. Its certainly good enough for me. Performance wise, well our friends with a stock 1600 and 34 pict 3 carb always end up dropping back on the hills.

This is the set up i currently run and got to agree it is better than stock but i will always yearn for twins, just finding the set up to suit
