one question ?

what type of carb is it becasue it said made in Japan.
that middle section looks like its a replacement and looks oddly rusty in comparison to the rest of it.
the answer to your original question is I think it might be useable but im not entirely sure.

It says on it 1500 meaning 1500cc i thought
i thought it might of been of an old bug or something
i no that middle section don't look right but it ties in with mechanism strange
its a big carb might be 40 or something, wouldn't mind running it on my bus
but don't no if they would do an adapter for it?
When i bought this bus there was all the bits to do in a box with this carb
and the carb on the camper wont seem to run right
its up and down all the time wont sit steady its a 34 pict 3 single
so like i say maybe it was for that

Dude you have everything to run it on a 1600 single port motor, the adapter was sold with the nikki carb so it would fit the vdub manifold, and get the throttle linkage working the right way round, the only thing you need to find out is if its jetted for a 1300 or a 1500/1600cc.

The only other thing your going to struggle with is spares, have looked all over not been able to get any response out of the few places Ive found.

i think if i remember correctly it was to small to go onto the inlet
how can i check to see what its jetted for?

Think your stuffed then unless you can get a new adapter made, as for jetting I dont know, guess you could see what size jets your current carb has and then look at the jets in the nikki.

Looks like a Nikki carb, Famous for flat spots & crap gas milage.

I expect you will be asking for trouble by using it...
