Have recently bought a 69 White westy it has it's original paint but a previous owner has sanded loads of marks out and gone back to bare metal.every panel has some marks and while it would polish Out it could also look like fake patina which I'm not a fan of! So if I'm going to have to paint it would it lose any of it's appeal and value and if I'm going to paint I may be tempted to change colour opinions please!

Your bus, your rules. :)

My opinion on these things is 'the balance of originality' multiplied by 'the level of scruffiness you can live with' divided by 'what look your after'.

There are a lot of OG white westys around, so not that scarce, but the number of really good ones is diminishing. The chances are Id do my best to preserve and protect what you have, but ultimately, its your call.

If you do respray then choose an OG colour, I reckon. :)

A good quality respray in an original or widely acceptable colour scheme will not detract from the value of your bus. If the original paint is tired and going mat then such a respray will enhance its value.

By good quality I mean not just good paint and a nice finish - it means a respray with all the windows, handles, seals etc removed. If it can be done with the old original two pack paint then it will be hard to tell it apart from original.
