Hi,

Been looking around at the seat belt options in a westy (apologies if this has been asked before due to my lack of searching skills!) - I've got 3 kids to fit in the back of a van and trying to work out if this can be done in a westy - they are:

New Born in rear facing seat
2 year old in a forward facing seat
5 year old in a booster type seat

Has anyone done similair? I see that a 3 point belt is fine on one side of the rear bench but can you fit 3 points to the other side (with the cupboard) and also seat belt options for the buddy seat?

If this doesn't work may have to rethink the westy interior option :(

got the same problem myself. Dont like one of my daughter having only the lap belt near the cupboard, was think about one of these.

£39 each, means you dont have to drill through the cupboard and can disconnect when you want to turn into a bed, Just not to sure where i'd mount the reel? ... some where on the engine lid/ floor part ... have to think about this a bit more......

Just need to make sure its not too close to the seat to keep the angle correct, but also miss the rear cushion

i like that idea, you could get a mountin bracket welded to the top of the engine bay.

Theres a bus on here that has a seat belt mech for the centre mounted on the roof by the tailgate, may be worth investigating ...

thanks Ckem, but not too sure about mounting both belts on the same side as it seems to suggest, Would prefer an anchor point closer to the seat on the cupboard side

Thanks for the link Clem - think I may need to get a buddy seat 3 point and poss look at the lap belt by the cupboard

Unless Graham solved the mounting bracket in the wardrobe idea??

I kind of did, it just needed a bit more work and some extra bracing and then just needed one hole in the wardrobe, I presume you have seen my photos in the 3 Point Rear Seatbelt Thread?

The other I idea I had was to make a triangular plate that was bolted/welded to the floor over the engine right next to where the wardrobe sits out of say 3-4mm plate with the seatbelt mounting at the top of the triangle, hard to visualise but this would give you a strong mounting that was secured to a solid piece of metal.

You would still only get two inertia reals on the 3/4 westy bed seat, the other one would have to use the rear facing buddy seat and people have used longer bolts on the top front seat belt mount to mount another inertia real belt at this point and use the same mounting at the bottom for the stalk mount, the inertia real itself being bolted to the bulkhead inside the buddy seat.

Hope that makes some sense :?: ,

if you let me find you a van I'm sure I can sort this out for you

Sounds good - at least it doesn't scupper my westy plan and end up having to get a micro bus!!

Can add some belt mounts to the list ;)
