Whilst working through my epic winter to-do list on the van, one of the jobs I need to tackle is sorting the poor headlamps. I will be upgrading the bulbs now that I have some p45t - p43t adapters, but I think the main problem is the tarnished reflectors.

I asked for a quote from a company that popped up on Google to re-chrome and re-silver the reflectors, but nearly fell off my chair when the response came back with £205! Machine7 have replacement reflectors on sale at the mo for £45 each and they just need a bit of tweaking to fit, however, I would much rather keep to OG if they could be coated for a more reasonable price. Has anyone got any recommendations / contacts that'd be worth talking to? I understand it's not the cheapest process, but can't stomach paying over 200 quid...

With all the new EU safety laws, amount of Ind Est. chromers has plummeted and the price of the remaining ones has rocketed.

I'm guessing that those are the same as the Hella ones being offered by other suppliers; certainly the price and the photo look that way. And as in the description, they only seem to be available for Beetles so need to be drilled to suit a Baywindow.

That was where I had the quote for £205 from! [emoji3]

Why do they need to be drilled?
Hella bus headlights are the same as Beetle ones, you just take the glass lens off, rotate it through 90 degrees, and refit.

I'm only going by what the sellers all state - must be something to do with the adjustment lug holes being in the incorrect place when switching between beetle and camper.

Try these: SH Metal Finishing, Droylsden 01613711876

Have you used these guys before? Will definitely give them a shot as I'm regularly in Manchester so can easily drop in.

Yes, on a BMW Isetta bumper and hinges. Was very pleased with job and they still look good some 6 years later.
