Clutch goes to the floor with no resistance?

What are the likely causes of this? If you press the clutch and it goes to the floor with no resistance at all, and the biting point is maybe a cm from the top, but it still engages the gears, is it a clutch cable issue or just something that needs adjusting?

Reviving this. I'll check the clutch cable later today. Drove it 300 miles so isn't the end of the world but the biting point lomas has my knee to the steering wheel.

Would this be the case if the clutch comes back up? Returns fine but just goes straight down.

Well the clutch pressure plate will push the thrust bearing/fork/release arm back. The spring I'm talking about is designed to pull the thrust bearing away from the pressure plate in that last bit of travel. This is to stop it constantly running against the pressure plate and wearing both it and the bearing out prematurely.

So to put it another way, you have 2 springs that return your pedal into position - the clutch pressure plate spring and the one attached to the clutch release arm and I suspect you only have one of these working at the moment!

It could be that the cable is fraying and is about to snap.
