Have decided to take the plunge and get a compressor and a few air tools. I have read bits on here and elsewhere and am getting a little confused with cfm, max psi, what HP etc

I will be using a mini belt sander, spot blast gun, a 50mm diameter "roloc" smart repir tool sander "wizzer" thing and maybe a sand blast gun (I will not be needing a compressor for painting).

I have been looking at a SIP T2 50 which you can get at Halfrauds rated at 8 cfm, 2HP motor, 50 litre tank for £220.
Im thinking that its not a bad compressor but may be a bit "gutless" for sand blasting. It does seem a big step up for a 3HP 14 cfm type comprssor though at around £350 plus

Am also a bit uncertian about oil free and non oil free compressors.

Any advice would be very gratefully recieved :)

Cheers in advance

Andy

I dont know much about compressors, but i think the general consensus is, big is best! I have a 200L one that does most stuff, its good enough to power my impact gun, wich is what it gets used for mostly, I bought it second hand on ebay for about £150 its been very reliable (touch wood)

Have a look on machine mart for the type of tools you fancy, they will give you a min CFM, this will guide you in the right direction for a compressor.

if you can afford it get the 3hp one .....the smaller one with 8 cfm will struggle to keep up with the pace and you will be waiting for it to recharge the air tank all the while where as the 14 cfm will cope fine and will run most air tools that you would use on your van .
