Howdy folks
I get condensation all over the fibreglass top (internally) when my two daughters sleep up there. Is there a cure for this? I leave the canvas flaps slightly open for ventilation but doesn't seem to help a lot.
Any thoughts would be great.

Can you not get one of those condensation boxes from B&Q and maybe mount it in the pop top while the kids sleep? Failing that I guess a roof light fitted into the pop top may sound drastic but should cure your problem. It's not something I've suffered with when my two sleep up top.

+1

Insulate and carpet, trim it to match the interior, I'll be doing this next, after the interior finished

Ours does the same. Maybe for the time being, some cardboard up there on the roof?

Cheers

Alistair

Yep. Get the same problem too, the kids bedding gets quite wet. Would like to find an answer to it as well.

The cold weather does not help

Hmmmm.....
Thanks men.
Will have to ponder for a while as I want to get it sorted. I kinda like the carpet idea and will help make it a bit more snug for them as their bedding gets wet as well. I can see one of them sleeping down below with the wife and I'll be kicked out into the awning.......with the dog.

Hi,

Maybe some closed cell foam glued onto the underside, and then trimmed off with some of the thin carpet type stuff the trimmers use, spray adhesive. You'll find it all on ebay.

Here's some to look at:

this happens to me also and i've sat and pondered it a long time (everytime i go camping). i thought about ply lining it and making it flush. then i thought rubber underseal then carpet. then fiberglass it with foam in the middle so it looked like the outside. i think i'm going to use the close cell stuff then carpet it on top then i mite get a thermal wrap for the canvas side. still pondering

Sounds like a plan to me.

I am sure i saw someone selling a wrap for the3 canvas, cant think where from though, may have been on the samba.....

you can use a roll of the foil wrap insulation around the outside of the poptop canvas - secure with velcro or whatever, cheap enough from b&q.
But to stop the condensation i guess you really need to insulate the roof,
just a thought though, would it cause a problem if your using a continental style bed?
any added depth to the roof may stop the roof closing properly??
Maybe aagain, a velcro on type of insulation would work, you could store it in the void between the roof skins??

On my danbury roof they used a vinyl covered foam (not rigid closed cell foam) material. It's only about 10mm thick and seems to do the job ok. I think you just have to create something to eliminate cold bridging where the moist air condenses on a cold surface. Of course if you want to up the ante and insulate more then that's all good too. We keep the roof light slightly ajar too.

Thanks a lot aogrady for these links. Just to let you all know, I have ordered product from link number 1 and it will be delivered over the coming days. I'll install and let you all know how it works as we will be camping in July.

Howdy gang.
Sorry for the delay in replying. What with ferrying three girls to gymnastics 5 nights a week, work and dealing with this stinking, lousy, filthy, rotten weather, time has gotten away.
Long story short, I bought some insulating foam and glued it to the top and went camping along the Gower Peninnsular last week and solved the condensation problem. Girls were as warm as toast up there as well. Trouble is, I bought the stuff back in June and cant remember where I got it. I'll go through the receipts and post the website and some piccies for you to view and you can make up your own minds if you want to do like wise.
