looked at mine and the country code came up as collected from factory, wonder how many vans were collected at factory,by owners

so my van has done some sailing in its time, i am the fourth owner from new, first owner colleted from factory but ordered as us spec, guessing must of been a us serviceman in Germany, who must of taken it home on completion of tour, and then sold it on, then two more owners and then to me here in the UK..

would love to find out more

just checked up on mine too, interesting stuff although the date thing is a bit ARGH! just settleing for a friday sometime towards the end of July 1970!

she used to be Pastell White with Gala Red Leatherette interia. so as far as i know in the previous 6 owners she's been 3 different colours! pastell white, blue and now red!

jenna, if you've got your M plate handy I can try and decipher it for you, the dating changes a couple of times for EBs so can be tricky to work out

why thankyou Speedman!

the year part (very first number) was 1 which indicates 71 right?

the date part was 51 5 which as i understood it meant the friday of the 51st week from 1st August 1969? (she was first registered 15th March 1971 is that's helpfull) i've just confused myself with too many numbers! not good for an accountant  my excuse is im only a trainee and IT'S CHRISTMAS

Cheers

Jenna

1 is for the 1971 model year which runs August 1970 to August 1971 so...

51 5 = week 51 / day 5 = Friday 19th December 1970

speedman,

here is one for you my M plate date code is 153 which would give u 15 week day 3 from aug '69 but if you work that out you get a date in 69 but i have a date sticker in the van showing 04 1970

so how does date code work..

i have applied for a birth cert to clear it up

jon

15 3 for a 1970 model year van would be Wednesday 9th April 1970
