Have a 1600cc engine fitted with twin dellorto carbs CB performance linkage, I can't seem to get them to fully open.

My van is a 73, I have fitted a new accelerator pedal, hinge & spring behind it and accelerator rod along the cab floor.

The biggest problem is that the carbs are not snapping shut causing the engine to rev a lot at idle.

I have fitted a strong spring to the linkage and the engine roof to try and pull it back shut, which sort of works but not great.

If i dis-connect everything the accelerator pedal has spring in it, I can pull the cable back and forth quite freely, and the linkage shuts ok, but when everything is connected and I start to drive the van after a while I get high revs again at idle.

Is there anyone in the Leicester area or anyone going to the bus stopover who can have a look at it for me?

I have the same setup on my 72, carbs shut nicely when foot is off the pedal with no extra springs, have you overtightened the crossbar mounting ? have you got a pic of how you have setup the linkage?

I had the same problem with my Weber 40idf's. I use the CB kit. Check the linkage is'nt to tight, that butterfly spindle shafts on the carbs are not too tight either. I also had the return problem, get a strong spring and connect it to the pedal end so it lifts the pedal back up. I found that cured it straight away. The cable drags inside the cable tube making it stick. Also, lube the cable with either 3 in 1 oil or a light spray grease, normal grease makes it drag too.
