OK so I have most of the parts to convert the front of my 1970 to the later format (> 1973) Disc brakes.

Do I

a) Leave the rears 'as is' and fit wide 5 wheel adapters to my 'new' hubs thus keeping the 'original look?

or

b) buy a full set of 112 PCD later wheels plus rear hubs drums etc.. to match ?

I also have a newish front beam that will soon need fitting as mine is a bit of a patchwork. So I also thought I might
drive down to T2D dump it all with them for a couple of days and come back lowered, disc-ed and new beam..

.. but then where's the satisfaction in that eh ?

Cheers

James

Pesonaly I would at least change the rear to later brakes, the best way to do this is to source a complete rear hub, as there are some slight differences to your existing hub, or if you want to go for the beast option, I would fit a futbus rear brake conversion, I have just done this, and although it still needs some tweeking from my part, its an awesome bit of kit, and good value for money too.

Thanks for reply Axl

Not sure I can justify the fancy bits - Will keep pondering on the look I'm after I think.

Cheers

depends what wheels you want? The ones I wanted only come in 205pcd, hence fitted late bay discs and adaptors to the front, see my gallery photos

I have the original wide 5 pattern on the back of mine and late bay disks on the front, i just use adapters combined with a narrowed beam and its fine. Had the disks and adapters on for years without any troubles 8)

Hi Uber

I think we 'talked' about this before.- you turned a lip on your adapaters to fit snug onto
the actual disc didn't you ?

Hi Easy

Which adapters did you use - any idea how thick/gauge they were/are ?

Cheers guys

James

Yes that's correct. Think it was done to a) keep the track the same and b) better locate the adaptor, but not essential.

To be honest i cant remember who made the adapters dood, but they are about 10mm thick and work like a charm 8)
