Am I right in thinking this seat may have been from a dormobile? If so what are the differences between this seat and a "normal" one? Just the tray removed and no cover on the base?

Yes, that's a Dormobile passenger seat. The mountings are modified compared to a normal seat - they throw the seat forward a bit so that the cooker fits when folded down behind the seat. The top hook mounting is inverted and spaced away from the seat by 2 nuts on mine (not sure if previous owner or a "designed" solution by the Dormobile guys at the Tile Kiln Lane factory!) the lower mountings have t shaped feet modifications that pop rivet the the arch tub.

I think the normal seat has 2 different mounting positions which give 2 different 'reclined positions (not totally 100% on that as I have only ever owed a Dormobile early).

Looks like the base mounting brackets have been removed (bottom of your pic) as I think I can see the remnants of the pop rivets. It's also missing the rubber "buffers" from the top (as well as the aluminium hook that is spaced out with nuts on mine).

Found this pic on the samba (credit sped372) of a stock pas seat

Cheers for that :) It looks like I have the remnants of where the other hook was attached and the lower mountings have been removed, presumably when it was fitted to my van.

I'll probably strip the dormobile bits off the seat and sell them then, might be useful for somebody.

I don't suppose anyone knows the size of the rubber stoppers on an original seat, I think I'll need to put some on.

Ill measure them up for you tonight (I may have some spares that you can have - definitely got 1, will have to have a root around for another)

Nice one, thanks! :) I could only find these on heritage but they look a bit small and say there are for the front edge?? https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/bay-bus/211881895/stop-rubber-front-seat-bottom-t2-1960-and-1963-1974-each/?crumbStartPage=1&crumbStartRow=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi again, I have found that the rubber buffers are the same as post 61 split cargo door buffers - part no 211 841 691B (VW parts book confirms). schofields sell them for 3 quid a piece.

Hope this helps

(I see that you have a potential buyer for your seat!)

Excellent thanks for your help! I would never have figured that out. I'm selling the dormobile related bits, still need the seat :) especially as its in good nick with no broken springs!
