are doing my head in! it's driving me nutts every rain storm the passenger side gets filled with water and I've just fitted new german quality door seals, if anything it's made it worse!

It seems to be coming from the bottom left corner where the seatbelt is, i've tried bending the door in slightly as it wasn't fitting perfect, the seal seems to be holding a good seal but obviously not good enough! anyone got any ideas? bloody things not going to last two minutes like this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dubman..I had this problem with my passenger (nearside) door and I ended up taking the door card off and waiting for a rainy day.

Then when it was raining hard I went and sat in the van.

I found the water was getting in at the bottom right corner (nearside and looking from the outside) of the outer window scraper.

The water was going down the inside of the door and hitting the slider air vent.

It was bouncing off this vent into the seat belt area you describe.

This left a pool of water and wet under seat mats...Sound familiar ?

I solved the problem with a smear of clear silicone sealant. You dont need much and you wouldn't know it was there unless you look hard.

I now have a door which is waterproof and my seatbelt mounts and mats are nice and dry.

I think part of the problem is pattern scrapers which don't fit quite as well as the original VW parts.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

sounds exactly the same, think i'll sit in the van and get the missus to spray the hose on the door and find out once and for all where the blasted leak is.

So where exactly did you put the silicone on the window scraper itself? or inside near the seatbelt area?

Cheers

Alan

I squeezed the sealer between the shiny metal part of the scraper (on the outside) and the door itself.

It was a pattern scraper from VW Heritage and it didnt quite follow the contour of the window opening in the door.

It was the bottom corner above the door handle where theproblem was.

Once its in, wipe the excess away with a damp cloth and I swear you cant see it.

have you got the plastic sheet liner installed behind the door card mate? If so is it sealed properly at the bottom corner? Have a look at the door card, is it stained?

Had the same problem on the drivers side, water was leaking on the window scraper, above the door handle. Was on a wet and windy holiday in cornwall (one of many), for a temp repair i shoved and wedged a rolled up small food bag in the hole, leak sorted, temp repair was 2 yrs ago, just rememberd that its still there.

I'm going to use either the plastic sheet used as cheap double glazing that you stick and shrink with a hairdryer or clear fablon to seal my inner door anyone tryed these before.Frankie.

I had same problem, solved it by renewing the plastic sheeting bought from DIY shop and sealed on with spray on adhesive.
