Some absolute ****** has just decided to remove my right hand door mirror with his van at about 40mph!! It was my right of way but he decided his fully loaded massive ldv van would fit through the gap, he was wrong!! Oh yeah, you guessed it, he drove off aswell!!

So where's best to get new mirrors from? I keep hearing of mirrors that don't fit, and threads being too short, I'd rather avoid being let down by ***** so who do you recommend??

I always get quality stuff from Chris, so assume the SS mirrors would be good..

I've just had a door mirror from JK Preservation Parts range and it seemed to be nice quality but the thread was too short for my door so I ended up stripping it down and using part from my old mirror to get it to fit.

This is what I don't want to be doing, if you pay good money for jk parts you shouldn't have to mess around to make them fit. Are your doors original ?

Do you just need glass or the whole unit?

By the way, what a Cnut. I have a dash cam fitted for just these events, don't suppose you got the plate are driving off is a criminal matter.

I could get away with just the glass but I think il replace both mirrors for a matching pair as I've got 1 original in good condition and 1 Taiwan *******!!

If my doors are original (which I reckon they are) I shouldn't have the short thread issue should I? Am I correct in thinking that it's the Brazil doors that the mirrors have issues with?

No, i have OG doors and the repro mirrors i got have such little thread you can't even get the protective washer to fit. If i had a thread dye large enough i could have a go at trying to put more thread on but i don't - and i shouldn't have to - i should have just sent them back and shoved them up there Arse! Repro **** is UTTER BOLLOCKS

This is my point, I don't want to have this hassle, I suppose good condition og mirrors are unheard of!?

I don't know if they are original but they aren't new Brazilian replacements, the mirrors I had on previously were "show specials" that fit but the heads were chromed and started to rust, the JK mirror would just about bite the thread without the washer but no chance with it.
I paid £26-50 so not quite €100 and the finish is quite good, much better close to than the show cheapies.

Original VW mirrors are so much nicer than the Hagus ones. I really dislike that thick grey rubber surround on the Hagus.
