Can 2.5 inch dropped spindles be used with stock 14 inch wheels without any fouling?
Or is it best to go for 15 inch wheels?

Cheers, Sam

The wagenswest ones foul on a 14" rim. You can grind it away to clear, but 15" rims is a better bet.

Is this definitely the case Mike? I've heard different opinions on here somewhere. I believe some have had fouling problems and some haven't ( don't know why this would be ).

Anyone running Wagenwest 2.5" drop spindles on stock 14s reading this ?

If so I'd better find some 15s  ( or a grinder )

The T2D 3.5's dont foul, dont increase track and allow for a speedo cable! And include new hd ball joints.
Whats not to like? :)

They seem expensive initially, but the WW spindles are now about £400 with shipping and tax, so add on the cost of some recon trailing arms/balls joints whcich cool air do for about £130 and its about £100 more. I reckon thats worth it for all the benefits :)

But, yeah, KnL is a different ball game altogether :)

coolair website says

"PLEASE NOTE: Torsion Arms are sold on an Exchange Basis so there is a £15+ vat surcharge per arm to allow for. If the exchange unit is not reconditionable then this will not be refunded."

and they are now £39.95 each so that's £160 IF all your arms are rebuildable + the postage costs........

Transporterhaus announced they are doing a similar product to the reversed balljoint - see their website for details.......

Looks pretty much identical to T2D's

I must be confused here, are they a new company, or is it a rebranded one? :?

I was a bit confused and not sure if there was a 'sh!tstorm' brewing - time will tell???

Although the T2d are at first glance expensive the alternatives seem to also stack up - especially if you want to go CSP brakes, which you would really on a split/linkpin type setup.........

I wonder if they [t2d] could machine in grease nipples - should extend the life a bit more??

Transporterhaus is nothing to do with any other company. We are a small workshop in cornwall producing our own parts not reselling others stuff.

We have been building top quality king and link pin bus spindles for over 2 years. In that time we have done so many we have a production line setup building the spindles. We supply quite a few other traders in the vw scene with our spindles.

We said we would not do bay window spindles as our roots are with split screens. However, so many people have been in touch (about 5 times the amount of king pin enquiries) about ball joint spindles we decided to have a look at them.

Bay spindles will be a new line from us soon. A couple more machining changes to the prototypes and they should be available for general sale.

Early VW balljoints with the plastic plug in the centre were designed to have a grease nipple attached which allows grease to be pumped in to clean the balljoint out after the rubber boot was replaced. Later VW ball joints did not have this facility and the complete ball joint had to be replaced if the joint is worn and contaminated with dirt.

Modifying ball joints to include a grease nipple would not be hard.
