Needs front floors, battery tray, motor, and gearbox. It is an early 69, so it has the 68 style dash and middle seat. Clear Oregon title. More pics available on request. Hate to cut this one up!

Hi there.
More pics would be good, body, underside & interior please!
Where are you located, and presume you could arrange shipping etc?
Are there any other parts included, bumpers, rear engine panel etc?
Would appreciate good pictures to see what parts are missing, driveshafts, gearchange rod, seats, headlining etc.
Looks like rust around windscreen, pics/info please.
Doors, do they all work & do they drop when opened?
Keys, do you have them & are all the locks on the same key?
Lots of questions/requests I know, but I can't just pop round to see it!
Thanks very much,
Pete.

Pete, no need to apologize! I'll include a rear valance and a front bumper. I can't find the keys, but the door, hatch and slider handles have not likely been changed. Ignition was rewired for a generic switch in the dash. Gearchange rod comes with it. Doors all open and close well, no troubles The headliner is filthy right now, at this price level I think the next owner can shed some elbow grease! Headliner is in good condition. THe windscreen panel has some rust starting, but no holes so some POR-15 and a new windscreen seal she'll be good to go. I have more pics listed here on Flickr...

I can arrange all of the shipping/transport etc.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Woodslat (not your real name??!) I really have no business looking at another bus (have an October '67 Deluxe not finished!) but this just ticks (checks) many boxes. If you can come up with a figure for an 'all in' cost of purchase/ transport/ shipping then I can consider this further. I have to bear in mind that once on these shores there are many costs/taxes to pay also, and these can really add up!
I have a contact who has imported dozens of busses to the UK, so hope to get some help at this end regarding procedures/costs etc.
As I have said, could you please quote me a price for the bus with the parts stated, in a container on a ship to UK so I can then determine the costs at this end.
It would perhaps be best if you sent this information via pm (private message) on this forum, or via e-mail to [email protected]
Thanks very much,
Best regards, Pete.

Hi Woodslat,

Do you get many buses and campers like this at this kind of price? If so, what is the arrangement for shipping/transport to the UK? and what is the kind of price this usually comes to?

I see that Pete B is interested in this one but I am looking for a cheaper end early bay project to work on and if you have others it might be a way forward for me? Depends on the shipping costs.

Sorry for all the questions, but im desperate to start a project and not sure if it might be easier to do it this way?

Regards,

Del

Thanks for asking! Here is a partial list of buses and such for sale, listed on a picture hosting site called flickr. I don't sell any buses less than $1500 as they are worth that in parts! THis one needs some work, but is original and solid enough to warrant a resto. Here are the rest of the buses for sale, just ask on price and availability, as sometimes the sell fast!

We only got a couple hundred metal dash 68's in, Kombis only I think. THe positioning of the vents is different, and there was a higher glare blocker above the speedomoter cluster. I'll see if I can get a few pics to show the difference. Dashes without the plastic civering are far more common on the continent than in the US. The trim you are referring to, is it the aluminum trim around the base of the seat stand?

thanks!

Eric,

the trim i'm after is the black padded type that goes on the bulk heads behind the seats.

thanks

Eric,
Have just seen your message stating that you are going to cut it up. And there was me thinking you were one if the good guys! If you haven't already started, then please hold on while I try to sort some money out. I realise you have to earn a living, but how anyone could slice up a bus as good as this is beyond me. When they are gone, they are gone. They cannot magically be returned. I know you have said how much the price of shipping has gone up for you. It is that cost that ruins it for us in the U.K., in effect TRIPPLING the purchase price. In this case the price of 1000 pounds becomes 3000 (minimum) by the time it reaches my driveway. The market has cooled a lot here (frozen some would say) but this bus could still be financially worthwhile if doing the work yourself and keeping it to enjoy.(my plan!)
If you could bear with me a few days, I hope to have the money available very shortly, and so save another worthy piece of history from destruction.
Cheers, Pete.
Please let me know the state of play.
