Does any one know why the handbrake cables on early and late bays are different, I have just been fitting rear disks on my early bay, the kit is designed for a crossover or late bay, every thing can be adapted to fit, but the handbrake cables are about 500mm to short, I was wondering what was so different on the different models.

any one know??

Thanks

Mark

the early bays had a longer cable as they adjust at the bottom of the handbrake in the cab.
The late bay has shorter cables becasue it has a pull bar from the bottom of the handbrake which links to a splitter plate where the cables bolt on.

When I did my initial rear brake conversion I swopped the early handbrake lever with late bay handbrake lever set up allowing me to use the splitter plate set up - this was a straightforward replacement and makes no visible difference inside.

As far as i know the back end of the cables are the same though so i guess you could use the early cables.

Yeah I thought that was the case, the cables I have are for a crosover bay, I am wondering now if cables from a Splitty would work??
