Early Bay Disc Conversion

I have a 69 UK Camper with drums up front. I have found a set of camper disc brakes listed as between August '70 - July '72. They come with calipers and all the mounting bits. Will these later disc's have the same stud pattern / offset etc? Anything else I should consider for this conversion? Car rides on replica Empi 5 spoke wheels.

wrong stud pattern you might also want to be aware that it will push the track out a few mm each side (hence the 72> arch lips)...

the discs came into play in 71 so small 5 pcd they were then again changed for 73 with larger calipers and discs the calipers were changed slightly in 71 for a twin bleed nipple set up

Youll need the back end kit as well to match up your rims ....

Do you think it would pass an MOT with the slightly wider track and no arch mods? Or is that a a case of it's not technically legal but highly unlikely to get noticed?

I may as well buy 4 wheels for the later smaller stud pattern and get the rear drums(?) from the same era. I can then sell the old wheels post conversion.

MOT wont be affected, the lip was introduced after it was discovered that spray from the wheels on 71s was apparently collecting under the doors.


you'll regret it on looks....its more expensive but you'd be better to get a brake set up for your wide 5s
