can any one tell me the difference beetween a EBERSPACHER bn2 and a bn4?

also what sort of job are they to fit?

do you t in to the main fuel line or do you need to modify the tank?

i take it you can use these while on the move?

Not sure on the differences but I had a BN4 a while back that I was going to fit into my van, but plans changed when I fitted twin carbs - the BN4 was originally fitted in the lhs of the engine bay with a duct going past the lhs of the fuel tank & then out behind the rear seat, I believe(could be wrong) it was otional to get one that recirculated air from inside the van via a vent that was in the rear left hand corner which was joinged by a bif plastic tube. Fuel is connected using a t piece so no tank mods. Parts for these heaters are getting quite expensive as well - although there is a guy on VZI deejay451 (?) that restores them & can provide some parts.

I have since bought a later model eberspacher - a B1L (there is also a newer compact version B1LC or bigger models B3L etc) which can be had for much the same money if you hunt around - ebay.de being one good place to look. These more modern type also just require a fuel t piece and are more suited to being fitted under the rear seat & typically have more modern controls already built in to regulate the temperature. You can also get diesel versions that are probably more common due to them being used in trucks, but the disadvantage is having to have a sperate diesel tank for it (although there are plenty of people that still fit them to vws).

Edit:
Thinking about it is the BN2 not the version fitted to older beetles & splits therefore its 6volt??
