Looks like most of the country will get a bit tonight ..... http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/live_storm_data.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Do you Love them or are you a bit scared?

Yes, we do appear to be in the firing line tonight!

As a kid I was very frightened indeed of thunderstorms, and even as an adult, although I enjoy a good storm, and watching the lightning, I still sometimes detect my heart beating a little faster than normal! :oops: :lol:

love them before they built canary wharf and docklands I could look straight over the river to Greenwich observatory and the lightning hitting the rod on the top now just watch it hitting canary wharf :shock:

Well.

I used to love storms as a kid, even as an adult they held a strange fascination.

However, 2 weeks ago I was in Utah for work when a storm rolled in, we were working at the base of a ski lift so were at a reasonably high altitude. Was stood talking to a colleague when BANG!! The loudest noise I ever heard & the next thing I realised was we were both laid out on the floor wondering what happened.

Apparently the ski lift took a big hit & then the lightening spread out in a spider fashion to where we were standing, knocking us clean off our feet.

One trip to the ER & ECG's, kidney function tests, blood & urine tests etc.

No lasting damage except some superficial burns & temporary threshold shift, but this was one experience I don't want to repeat. :)

Lightning didn't bother me until I heard about all the lightning strikes on people's houses.

I would turn the TV and modem off so stop them from being zapped, but if it's going to strike your house, it will basically explode, with plaster blasting off the wall. Lovely :)
