Guys,

I imported a 71 californian westy at the tail end of last year and after following the topic on converting to Euro spec lighting gave it a go at the weekend.

The rear end now works fine with tail lights and break lights working as expected and the reversing lights now operating succesfully as indicators using both the indicator lever and hazard warning switch. I've also put in a euro headlight conversion from just campers which seem to be working OK.

I do however seem to have created a separate problem in that the front indicators no longer operate via the indicator lever but they do through the hazard warning switch.....Oh Dear!.........Any ideas?

are you sure you have connected them, sounds silly but sounds the obvious thing, you should have 3 wires from switch 1 for either side that splits,to 2 wires one for front one for back black/white and black/green and a black/green/white that goes to the hazzard switch with a blue that is your warning light wire....

hope you understand this

Thanks 58,

I have connected the black/yellow and black/red wires to the rear lights and disconneted the Black/Red between the flasher switch and the T6 connector block before connecting a new feed to the rear tail lights. As far as i can make out these changes should not effect the front indicators as they go through the indictor stalk separately. (This is an assumption as i havent had the indicator stalk to bits yet so dont know the internal switching mechanism).

I have disconnected the grey/red front indicator sidelight cables and looped these to the sidelight elements of the new headlight conversion. I purposely havent tampered with either the green back or white/black connections to the front indicators in fear of tying myself in knots. Do you think i may be losing the conectivity in the sidelight loop somehow?

Id love to bring her over or indeed anywhere for that matter. I need to get her MOT'd before i can register her in the UK. So shes out of action until i can get my head around this last bit of wiring. (Hmmn well i say that...........the steering isnt too handy either!)

Cheers.

Problem being the front indicators operate trough the hazards and bring all four lights on, the rears work through the brakes, weird yes but true, if you look at the coloum switch you should have idents vl and vr ( left and right) this being yr black/white and black/green wires..

tell me in more detail what you have done to get lights to the rear, then i can try to sort it for you

jon..
