Empi gear lever help please

Hi guys well I've cocked up again but hey ho that's life lol.

I fitted I second hand empi trigger shifter in my 71 bay and the problem I have is , I have all gears including reverse but I don't have a gate before reverse it just goes straight in to reverse with out pulling the trigger up I've messed about with it but can't work out what I've done wrong. Thanks in advance phil

Someone more experienced at this will probably tell you differently but I had a similar issue when I fit mine and I found it was because I used the wrong size spacer below the shifter, I swapped it for the other size ( I think you get 2 with them ) and it fixed the issue for me.

Cheers for the reply just tried it no joy. If I've done my measuring right then I should be using the 9mm one which I am so back to bangin my head again lol

The last one of these I had I had to use the alternate spacer as advised in the instructions. Not sure why but it fixed the problem.

Who's the daddy then I've sorted it at last I couldn't get it working so I put it together in a vise and then the eureka moment I saw a little bracket that was bent so I bent it back put a dab of weld on it and it works a treat. I put it back together and it works really well. Happy days
