Engine bay lining

Does anyone know what the almost card like sheet with holes in above the engine is? There's then some brown coloured material in a clear cover above it. This isn't a pic of my engine bay by the way! But I have the same material above but mine appears to be crumbling and falling apart. Wondering if I should just remove instead of letting bits drop onto the engine, but wanted to check what it was first!

Its soundproofing, if the board is damaged. Search for Rackhams on here as they make replacements.

Makes quite a difference to noise inside the rear of the bus.

I can vouch for the Rackhams replacement. Nice bit of kit with the correct rivets too.
