external oil cooler

hi there i have an external oil cooler but not 100% if it is working ,any tips ,does it run on its own or do u control it yourself cheers

There should be an in-line thermostat fitted.

With a fan? I can hear mine running when its on but i guess only when it runs for a min when i turn off the engine.

Does the pipe work get hot??

If you leave it idling it can take a long time to heat up. As mentioned, they usually have a thermostat.
