Bought a complete brake refurb kit from heritage ,cylinder is threaded ,old one isn't and a tad difference in size I would say

Just put drums on hubs ,I think the machinest that worked on the forgot his red bull ,only way there gunna fit is bend the back plates

I'm sure the refurb kits are for '72 on buses, could be wrong though. They have different cylinders and wider drums.

Sounds like your rite, wheels won't go on with the drums ,will have to ring them Monday ,bluddy painted drums and fitted adjusters .cant fit anything till sorted.

The new wheel cylinder is a 72my onwards the earlier one is an up to 71 my, when was your bus built (date). Looks like you've ordered the wrong one as your type were fitted up until July 71.

Don't forget model years run from august to the following July, so a 71 my year bus was built from August 1970 until July 1971

Cheers for reply, I've pm Alex ,the kit I have was bought a cupple of years ago at sandown ,just started putting it back together ,I might try and fit the old ones tomorrow with the shoes that came with the kit but not even sure if there the same

Shoes are also different, they changed for the 71, 72 & 73my onwards from memory, if you go on the vw heritage website it shows you the differences

Yer I've just looked ,just dug the old ones out ,will have to ring them tomorrow ,gutted as I wanted to get the back together ,I've had the drums painted as well :shock: do might not be able to return
