Hi folks,

I've just collected my '72 crossover Aussie campmobile which I'm over the moon with and the fun now starts as I have a '68 dormobile interior to go in it  However, I'm a little sure of how to proceed as I'm going to put a ply floor down on the load area which will lift the main unit and seat-base up relative to the boot box- does this mean I should also put the same thickness of ply down in the boot to make sure the bed is level(ish) when extended? Also, if I put the floor to the extreme edges of the load area then I noticed that the central part of the floor is indented so will be a bit lower; is it best to put a couple of batons in for support or will the foil-wrap insulation I'm going to put in do the trick?

Many thanks, I've got a lot of lerarning to do but I can't wait to get stuck in :D

Cheers,

Olly

you can use the stuff you put under laminate floors , or you can use camping mats / excercise mats which you can get for a couple of quid each . someone on here used these before to insulate their vans .

The Dormobile interiors were fitted directly to the interior of the vehicle and the floor was laid in aferwards. eg. you can remove the floor panel on a dormy without dismantling any of the furniture.

Henc - bear in mind that if you want to put the furniture on top of a floor panel then it will be too high against the side windows by whatever thickness the floor panel is.

Hi there,

Many thanks for your help, with this info in mind I think I'm going to put the main unit in directly onto the floor and then try and line floor inside somehow- I need to make a new seat/bed facia so I can shorten it and run the main floor all the way across. Secretly quite pleased as I might have enough rhinofloor to cover the boot now too

Wish it wasn't raining thiough so I could get out there and do it!

Hi Olly

I did my floor on my 71 oz import a few months back.
I didn't remove the main kitchen unit or the rear seat kick panel. However I did take out the tall cupboard behind the passengers seat.

After I cleaned the floor I put down:-
2 coats of red oxide
2 layers of flashing tape
1 layer of Thermo wrap
12mm marine ply
2mm lyno tiles

I then had to trim off the bottom of the tall cupboard so it fitted correctly.
There is still enough clearance for the rear vents under the rear seats to work and didn't have to adjust my table.

However....
Make sure your sink foot pump has enough room to go up and down after raising the floor. You can over come this by making the hole higher so that the pump foot plate has enough movement.

I will take some photo's for you tonight to show you the results.
