I'm fitting an electric fuel pump this week and have been told I need a fuel cut-off switch...
I've skimmed thru the forum and an inertia one cropped up.

Where do I get these from?

How/where do I fit them?

How do they work?

Thanks

Spence

Hi Spence,

I did a bit of digging and got a new switch and connector from ebay. the switch is a land rover part with a rubber top for resetting, it has a ball bearing which is located in a chamber, if the switch is knocked through an accident, the ball bearing is dislodged and the connection broken. This can be wired in series with the fuel pump. The likes of frost and moss sell this part for a lot of classics at around £45. Through ebay Switch £11.80 and connector £3.95. item numbers 171342903311 and 131027871140. I plan to locate this to the right of the engine bay on the triangular section so I can easily reset if required.

them switches only cut out in a wack there is a relay that shuts of fuel if the engine cuts out or if not running only works when cranking and engine running

Cool - that's what I'm after too - any ideas where I can get one of these bad boys?

Glad you are thinking about the inertia switch. I also fitted a fuel cutoff solenoid to stop fuel flowing. The inertia switch is wired in series to both and stops all fuel in case of an accident. It also acts as an immobiliser as you can remove the connector. My inertia switch was from a Rover, eBay £9 I think.
PM me if you need more details.
