I've just fitted a new passenger door to my camper and thought I would change the opening quarter seal as the old one was perished and leaking. It fell apart when I removed the quarter light frame.

So far so good.

I then attempted to fit the new seal I ordered from VW Heritage. I had to cut a small slit in the seal for the top hinge. No great problem as the rubber has a moulding in the right place which you just cut out with a craft knife.

BUT..the rest of the rubber seems too long and overhangs the frame slightly at the top and bottom.

I've tried forcing it in but it looks crap when fitted. It also makes the opening window very difficult to open and close.

Just to add to the problem the top fixing self tapper now spins in the door and wont hold the frame in tightly. Grr !

Anyone had the same problem ?.

Anyone know where to get seals which fit without problems.

Wish i'd never started and bodged it with bathroom sealer !.

Yup , Still cant get my bugger to fit so any advice would be awesome 8)

I swapped fixed for opening qtrs a few months ago
I needed one new rubber (other had one) and think I got it from status at a show
I'm sure I had the same problem and all i did was trim the end so that it was a snug fit
It's not clear if you dismantled the glass from the frame, which you need to do to fit the rubber over the top hinge - you then pop rivet the two back together
