Morning! Why did no-one tell me that new kids and camper restorations don't mix? :|
Anyway, the interior's out and the floor's been de-rusted and repainted. Before I put the interior back in I was wondering what people would suggest regarding soundproofing. I know I can put down roof-flashing but is it worth it under the ply floor? Also the original ply was screwed to the floor which led to many rust holes, would I be better bolting it down instead.

Sorry for two questions in the same thread but I've been up since 5.30 and now I've got to clean sick off the carpet!!

Cheers

cant help you with the soundproofing question (never felt the need to fit any(, but regarding the wood floor.....I wouldnt fix it down. I never do and they don't move = no holes through the metal. :D

I don't think the ply is screwed or bolted directly to the metal floor. It is held down by the various pieces of furniture which use the bolt fixings attached to the metal floor. I didn't bother with sound proofing when I did mine.

Same here, no soundproofing or screws. You could bond it in some way, with double sided foam tape or maybe silicone etc.

Camper conversion shop that used to be near me spray glued 3mm insulation foam stuff down then spray glued the flooring onto that, just a suggestion but this is on fiats and the like

I'm using the original Danbury ply which was screwed to the floor so the holes are already there! I'm also keeping the slide rails which allow the two seats to be flipped to face forward or back and these were also originally screwed to the floor (through the ply) but the screws are rusty as hell.
I don't think I'll bother with any soundproofing then and use stainless bolts through the floor with a shed load of waxoyl (unless anyone else has a better suggestion!!)

I'm not an expert in sound proofing but if you go to the noise killer website, I would assume they know a little bit about the subject, as you would hope so, if I remember correctly they suggest the use of their rubber backed mat stuff rather than the type flashing stuff. I always though the flashing type stuff was best for stopping panels vibrate and would have thought the floor was pretty rigid.

In my Westy the plywood is held down by the furniture (wardrobe, rocknroll bed and buddy seat) which are themselves bolted to the floor. I could have said "same" but had already typed this!
