for sale lock number 211 829 231 K

I have a NOS lock with 2 keys

part number is 211 829 231 K I have cleaned the dust off it and a quick
rub on one of the keys
the lock is stamped Zeiss Ikon

I have no idea what it is off , does anyone else know

its an aftermarket tailgate lock for an early bay. ive seen them in the states, rareish but an aquired taste! :wink:

according to a couple of guys in the USA , courtesy of the samba.com

its very rare indeed ,
especially if the panel has been cut to take one of these and the number
denotes a side locker lock , which makes some sense
but
who would cut the extra hole just to fit one :roll:
or
something unusual to have on display with lots of other VW goodies
if thats what you want to spend your money on ------ and a lot do

a bit of an odd one to say the least and rather difficult to value
