What is the difference from a stock box?
Does anyone know what revs one of these would be spinning at, at 100kmh/60mph?
I have an 1800 box in my bus now and it is doing about 3700 at that speed.
My tacho is not a super good one though so there may be a margin of error?

TIA

David

I am not sure but you need to be carefull in your hot country. VW did not over gear the vans as the engine speed keeps the cooling fan turning nice & fast to keep the engine cool...

If you up the gearing too much the engine may run hotter.

cant remember if there is much difference between the 1800 and 2ltr ratios, maybe look into it Lobus.
have you noticed more of a diffence now you have the bigger engine in?

How can I put it?
I have the tacho mounted on the dash so I have to look a fair bit to the left to check it.
In first and second I don't have time to get my head turned to have a look before it sounds like it is time to change up! It revs to 4k almost immediately.
Third gear is the sweetest of things, the torque is there from low revs and it runs out to 4-4300 and about 85kmh then slots into 4th and just keeps on going. I have had it up to 130kmh for a short burst with it still accelerating. I don't know how much further it will go and I am not too fussed about finding out. The beauty is that I know there is all those horses down back which is just waiting for the call to action.
Sitting on the freeway in traffic and being able to keep position with out knuckledraggers tailgating or slicing in in front of me has been a revelation.
The motor has only done 500kms since it was built so I'm not giving it too much stick.
I loved driving this bus before; but now I am in another dimension.

Now to get the dash sorted, I might have to put the tacho in the right corner on top of the dash. I don't have any holes left with the clock in there and it is a genuine 71 item so I gotta give it priority

sounds sweet!, ill put some pics of my new dash top up later to show you how i did mine.
i know when my mates bus had its subaru conversion it was just amazing.
the extra horses make all the difference :D
