re the contact/location in a container Q well that depends on so many issues thats why you'll see sensitivity levels in dbm....
no manufacturer in there right mind would even consider stateing that its useable in a container as its the easiest thingin the would to ensure the container is RF screened a simple earth will do it for most.

simply hook it to your fuel cut off (those that bought one that is) wire into an existing alarm etc.....
If this does do what it says on the tin I'd be up for one of these for sure, let us know when you get yours how good it really is.

Good afternoon bayers. Ob1 has already mentioned what l am trying to do.

Security for our buses is a serious issue.

Unlike GPS systems the Tracker system is linked to the police and linked up to their system.

I will hang fire until I investigate other options and what others have/use.

Forgot to post that the delivery was well fast on this no tax paid, yet to fit, not really been upto it I might trial it in the passsat....

Araon

Let me know how you get on and if you do a group buy as I'd be interested as well,

im right in thinking this one is used with google maps? i have Android on my phone which bundles with google maps and streetview, i'm thinking it would be great on the move for anyone looking to get one of these trackers.

It's not cheap but it does give peace of mind. There are 2 options once fitted. Yearly or lifetime subscriptions. At present for the unit including fitting the costs are:

£389 + £150 for a yearly subscription

or

£389 + £350 for a lifetime subscription.

A Tracker is not movable from vehicle to vehicle but can be used as an extra selling item. The subscription charge is dependent on the individual. For details check out:

http://www.tracker.co.uk/TRACKER/Default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am trying to negotiate a discount for 10 or more on thelatebay.com for those wanting this kind of system with the people who fitted mine. PM me at [email protected] if your interested. The company is in south London.

I prefer this to the GPS sim card if I'm honest chaps.According to the website,it uses 3 systems to locate the vehicle and its fitted to the Police vehicles & helicopters as well as port docks. also detectable inside a shipping container.recognised by Insurance co. as well.also immune to GPS jammers.

this is a budget option im under no illusion but for £70 compared to £700ish and yearly fees? its worth a punt.

Whatever system you all go for, make sure it works when fitted and you know what it does and what triggers it. I was playing with my bus today and moved it without the engine running. Within 10 mins l had an automated call from Tracker asking me about the whereabouts of my bus with 3 options:

Has it been stolen?
Do you need to go and see if your vehicle is missing?
Are you having it serviced?

Once l went through the options l was then transferred to a real person. And l do like the idea of having someone to talk to if it ever does go tits up. Going to test the battery cut out this week when l have a new battery tray fitted.

i may very well be up for one of these phone trackers as a group buy too...im getting concerned about the bus out on the road....but need to read the spiel on it carefully as scanning through it at work....i dont properly understand how the thing works!!!!!

anyone wanna put it into easy speak for me?!?!?

Can you add me to the group buy list too please :) There are so many going missing this year its scary :( I was wondering if you can use the sim in your normal phone? or is that a silly question

Also does it come with a sticker saying its installed? would that stop scum trying to rob it or alert them that its there so they can try to find it?

Interested to hear how the test is going :)

bog standard sim card you can purchase the cheapest one from asda i think for around a quid. it will need topping up now and again, but a £10 every few months is cheap in comparrison to trying to replace the irreplaceable.\

Personally i wouldn't want a sticker i'd love to catch them by surprise and dish out some summary punishment :fighting0038: .

If it doesn't I will release a generic 'TRACKER INSTALLED' sticker soon (see my site in signature). At the moment I only have:

Also, I have a contact that *MAY* be able to supply UK designed and manufactured trackers at a reasonable price - I'll let you guys know ASAP if I do, currently just negotiating with them.
