I need to replace one of the outer needle bearings on my beam - but I'm not sure how to get the old one out (no help from the Haynes manual - big surprise!!), any clues for me guys?
The beam is off so access is good if that matters...

make a slide hammer = theres a thread on thesamba about it

basically a long piece of threaded bar with a washer the same size as the ID of the beam BUT trimmed down both sides...this allows you to slant the washer [needs to 4mm thick min] and poke through the bearing.

then you pull the washer back towards you, as it is the same size it obviously catches the inner edge of the race...and then it's normally sliding hammer action.........

I'll see if I can find a pic or the thread........

welcome -I also warm the beam up slightly with a gas torch - just because I crushed the inner edge of a race whilst removing it...if you do destroy one send me a pm as I'm sure I have some spare.......[need to find them of course]
