just got one with my new motor . was told that with twin carbs ,normal street use youd need no more than 1.5 psi
what motor are you running

hi there mate
running a 1600 tp on twin 35 solex and she is getting way to much fuel what does a standard pump push out?
cheers leon

not sure i've got a standard pump and twin 42mm DCNF Webers on a 1776 and have been told that the standard pump is more than enough

The standard pump can push out anything up to 8 psi.
I've put one on my single port with twin 34's, and it's wound down to about 2.5 psi.

The standard pump will usually keep up with the demand for a lot of engines - maybe not on a long drag run but a lot of engines. The problem is the pressure it makes (up to 7 or 8 psi sometimes) and aftermarket carbs like the lower pressure (sub 2 psi or so). This is so the valves on the aftermarket carbs can shut off the flow without too much stress.

Anyway trimming the standard pump to a low pressure can be a little hit and miss - I thought I had it licked and then it got hot and adjusts itself somehow and not in the right direction - stalled when hot in traffic - not good.

Those little round chrome ones seem to attract a little criticism over in the US but am not sure why.

Good luck

Get a Carter rotary pump and forget the regulator, never had a problem with mine.
