Was wondering what the capacity is of the fuel tank? Mines a '68 model year if there are different ones. I understand the early sender units have a reputation for inaccuracy which would explain why it never shows more than 3/4 full. Just trying to get an idea of what range a full tank may give. I could just keep driving until it runs out but I'm sure someone can help!
Any information/comments gratefully recieved.

Thank you very much kind sir. By my reconing thats about 325 miles on a tankfull. 60 litres costs about £55 and I have never got more than £30 worth in so when the needle is just above the 'R', I have in reality about 1/3 tank, 100 miles, left. Good to know, suppose the theory will have to be tested out some time. Thanks again.

pete, i have experienced the same - £30 tops when i fill up. surprised that it's a 60ltr tank!!

just need to get the fuel guage working again as the mileage sums hurt my head some days

I remember seeing a for sale thread, either here or VZi, with a fuel guage on it which had an extra line below 'R'. I took it  that the 'R' actually represented the start of the red/orange section you get with modern cars and the other line was empty  My very next outing I drove home parking on the drive with the fuel guage needle indicating 'R', happy that this still left the reserve amount in the tank I thought I'd be fine to go and refuel the following day. However as soon as I started the van it ran out of fuel

Now I must add that when parked on my drive the van is on a slope, there are issues of reliability/accuracy on fuel guages, and other than the above I have no idea/experience of how much fuel the tank can hold, but just thought I'd add that little tale :!:
