Hi all

Just got a quick question about my bay, its a 1978 bay panel van with a early bay engine fitted (its got a dynamo). Anyhow i went to swap the starter motor with the one off my dads van which is 1973 and the teeth on the starters where different sizes :?

I ask this as my engine is shot and am wondering if a late bay engine will fit onto the gearbox as i currently have a very early engine fitted.

Any help much appreciated

The teeth should be the same but the throw should be longer on a late late starter as from 75 the bell was deeper....

pics and part numbers would help would help

doubt that when the engine was swapped they also replaced the box so chances are its a late box..

the gearbox code is in repose on the final drive casing next to the nosecone the two letters followed by a series of numbers representing the date of manufacture....
