Hi people,

What are my options for new headlamps for my 72 crossover?

I’ve noticed that most of the headlamps on eBay say 73-79.

What’s the difference?

The main difference I believe, is that you either have three tabs in the headlamp bowl or just one. If you have three you can fit the headlamps with just one screw in the outer chrome rim. The other two tabs hold the headlamp in the bowl and the chrome rim then is fitted over the top using the single screw hole. Those first two screws also adjust the beam.
If you have the single tab then the whole headlamp including the chrome rim is held by just the single screw, but there are two visible screws in the chrome rim that are used to adjust the headlamp beam, without having to remove the chrome rim, unlike the first one I described. Wow that sounds more complicated than it really is!

I have three tabs, but I like the look of the rounder profile headlamps which have the three screws in the rim. I am using the H4 conversion bulb.

Thanks Mike,

I don’t know what it is about these lights but it’s throwing me for some reason.
I’ve had a new front panel and bowls fitted which have 3 tabs in them.
Could I then use a 73+ light do you think?
