Had a good look over the bus this weekend and found that the heater flap cables are disconnected, one looks to have been cut on the o/s. The engine a 1600 twin port and was from a beetle. Now looking at it the lever on the exchangers for the heater cables to connect to,appear to be on the wrong side. Are the beetle exchangers different from the Bus?

I see JK have exchangers that fit both beetle and bus, any good?

There seems to be a few different lengths of cables, so how long should the heater cables be for a 69 microbus?

If exchangers are vw ones keep them they work much better than aftermarket ones.

To make them work on a bus bend the small leaver arm thats attached to the flap through 180 degrees so it points up, you wont need the rest of the linkage assembly thats used on bugs .

See here for what a bus exchanger looks like http://shop.volkswarenhaus.de/index.php/cat/c65_heat-exchanger-1-2-1-5-1-6--07-79.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; note how the lever points up.

Had another look tonight and there is deffo no small tag to connect the cables to on the outside of the exchangers, only the large spring loaded arm to the centre of the bus both sides. Must be just for Beetles
Looks like I will have to swallow the cost of two new exchangers at some stage :(
Also discovered that the clamp from the exchangwer to the back box is awal too. Another job for the Mot before Saturday.
