Propex or ebaspacher your choice.............Gas or Petrol/diesel ;)

Webasto (basically an eber tend to come up a little cheaper), many ways to fit them, internal or external then plumbed in the worlds your lobster.....

I was thinking of replacing the large heater tube with 70mm black round pvcu down pipe that would mean no need for insulation any thoughts on that idea positive or negitive Frankie

because its black,i think you would still need to insulate it,roofing felt used to be black but
if your roof int insulated you still loose all the heat through the black felt....

But plastic is not a conductor and pvcu has insulating qualities so the lose would surly be minimal if at all Frankie.

dont no,so if you filled the pipe with water (blocked the ends off) and left it in the sun would the water not get hot :?: if it does then you would loose heat from in side out :?:

I suppose there is always the fact that the metal pipe gets very hot and retains its heat sod it wrap the metal one in plastic pipe    just kidding no but seriously some good point made there cheers Frankie.

What do you mean plastic is not a conductor? its not and electrical conductor (normally) but it certainly conducts heat, indeed it relies on that fact in order for it to be formed....

the downpipe isnt a good idea it will warp at best gas you at worst, however you can get heat resistant plastics it you really must....

plus you would get that creaking noise that down pipe makes when the suns out ;) i dont meen you would be driving up side down

Hi!

Think you would melt the plastic pipe, if the heat coming out of my vents is anything to go by. One day i will stick a thermometer on it to see just how hot it does get......
I reckon, you would be better insulating the metal pipe with some type of wrap. There was a thread on this a while ago, i cant find the threa, have a look at this in the meanwhile:

Has anyone taken a feed from the Petrol tank and connected it to a heater? Ive never seen one with that configuration so there must be a reason why?

I have seen it on cars, bugs n type 3s cos the petrol tank is in the front, im sur eyou can do it off the tank but its easier to keep it in a container and not have another long piece of fuel line to worry about. 8)

Sorry to jump in but i am in 2 minds what to do with a heater. I can have a propex installed but this means cutting wood in th eback of the Devon and installing a separate under the floor tank

OR

I can have a Webasto one fitted in the front of the van behind the handbrake.

Trouble is I dont know which one is best and how much the Webasto one is to fit. I hear Dormobile fit them? Any ideas?

thanks

Your thinking of fitting a webasto in the cab, do you plan on using it on the move just thats gonna be one noisey drive....

Why not have it fitted under the bus and plumbed into the existing heater channels

hears one on ebay got it all hope it helps Frankie

I did not realise that is what the setup was - will check with Dormobile tomorrow as they fit them - is Webasto better than a Propex

Many thanks
