Can Anyone help
Just been fitting the locks to the cab doors of our 69 early bay ,everything seems to be working ok, doors will open with the outside door handle but won't open when you pull the inside handle
the rod that is attached to the inside handle won't pull the opening mechanism far enough, when i take the rod off and try to move it by hand it's ok it opens, so im thinking the rod needs to be shorter
are the rods different lengths between an early bay and a late bay (have i got the wrong rods)
or am i missing something?
it's happening on both doors
couple of photos below to show the travel of the door lock
any help would be appreciated

Thanks Vinvan

You basically need to crimp a v-shaped section into the rod to shorten it. There is a VW tool in existence that will do this for you, but can't say I've ever seen one! It is referenced in Bentley if you have a copy.

I had a similar problem, the retaining screw on the inner handle cover was too long and fouled the locking mechanism, sorted by backing off the screw

This might help as there appears to be 3 different lengths- look at item 36

it was the retaining screw "Too Long" thanks for the heads up Wannabay

Thanks Again Vinvan
